RESONANT

RESONANT is a monumental and kinetic installation that questions the limits of human perception. At the intersection of sound composition, light architecture, and interactivity, it invites visitors to a unique sensory experience. In a seemingly empty space, plunged into darkness, each scream, breath, or spoken word becomes the starting point for a spectacular audiovisual phenomenon. The voice transforms into matter: it unfolds into a musical and luminous phrase. Lines of LEDs come to life, patterns appear, and a sound composition emerges. RESONANT gives substance to the invisible and makes the vibration of sound tangible, in an intimate choreography sculpting the space.
CONTEXT
Under the leadership of curator Martin Posta, the Signal festival invites STROBOSCOPE to create an iteration of a first version of RESONANT. For this unique installation, the work is located in an emblematic Prague location in the Letna Park: a giant indoor venue, below what used to be a monument to Stalin and his followers, which was built in 1955 but was torn down around 1962. While parks can be seen as breathing spaces within the urban fabric, bunkers have a raw and massive character. This collaboration began with the ambition of creating a dialogue between the work and its natural, heritage, and social environment.
ARTISTIC DIRECTION
The installation, conceived on a large scale, aims to capture attention while inviting contemplation. Its device - a monumental structure constructed from LED tubes - was designed by STROBOSCOPE to encourage the circulation of gazes, voices, and spontaneous exchanges between spectators. Thus, RESONANT does not simply occupy the space: it transforms it into a place of collective and sensory experience. Composed using software such as Ableton Live, Resolume or MadMapper, the paintings are generated by associating around fifteen pieces with random light sequences, giving an almost unlimited combination effect.
